Scarborough: Toronto police have arrested a man after cross shooting between him and investigating police officers in Scarborough.

Police said that at officers were called to the Eglinton Avenue East area on Kennedy Road at 8pm on Tuesday. Police said a man was inside the house on Shenley Road and discharged multiple shots at officers. No injuries have been reported so far.

Suspect Thomas James McMahon, 35, of Toronto arrested on the three counts of Attempt Murder, three counts of Discharge Firearm with Intent, Possession of a Prohibited and some other charges.

There is no threat to public safety. The authorities earlier had appealed to the public to stay away from this area and asked local residents to take shelter in the basement of their homes.

A heavy police force remained deployed till arrest of the suspect, which caused a delay on Line 3 that halted service between Kennedy and McCowan stations, police said.
