Ottawa: Some anti-India elements in Canada wrote slogans on the walls of the famous SwamiNarayan temple in Toronto and Indian authorities have strongly condemned the incident while seeking investigation from counterpart into the matter.

The temple administration has complained to the local police and the police are investigating the matter. Slogans of ‘Khalistan Zindabad’ and ‘Bharat Murdabad’ were written on the wall of the temple. The Government of India has also strongly objected to the incident.

A video of ‘Khalistan Zindabad’ written at the famous Swaminarayan Temple in Canada has been released by pro-Khalistan terrorist organization Sikhs for Justice in India. Sikhs for Justice, a pro-Khalistan Canadian and US-based terrorist group, has claimed responsibility for the incident.

Taking up the matter with the Canadian authorities, the Indian High Commission in Ottawa has demanded strict action against the accused. “We strongly condemn the defacing of BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir in Toronto with anti-India graffiti. Have requested Canadian authorities to investigate the incident and take prompt action against the perpetrators,”

Brampton South MP Sonia Sidhu also expressed regret over the incident. “I am deeply pained by the act of sacrilege of BAPS Swaminarayan Temple in Toronto. We live in a multi-cultural and multi-faith community, where everyone deserves to feel safe. Those responsible for the incident should be identified so that they can be punished for what they have done.”
