On Thursday, along the border of Assam’s Nagaon-Karbi Anglong district, atleast 18 elephants were found dead.
Forest department preliminary intvestigation revealed that elephants could have been killed in lighting strikes.
An enquiry committee headed by an AFS Officer & a team of veterinarians has been instituted, said Forest Minister Parimal Suklabaidya in his twitter post. “The preliminary report of enquiry has been asked to be submitted within 3 days & a detailed investigation report within 15 days. We will unravel the exact reason behind their tragic death soon.”, Parimal added.
