Toronto: The condition of a 17-year-old student is critical after being stabbed inside a Scarborough high school on Monday afternoon.
Authorities were briefed around 3:00 p.m. about the stabbing incident at the high school, located in the Birchmount Park Collegiate Institute near Danforth Avenue.
Toronto Paramedics confirmed that one student was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Investigators said the stabbing took place inside the building and targeted a 17-year-old class 12 student at Scarborough high school.
The school was locked down and after a while the students and staff were safely evacuated from the school. There is no threat to public safety and no injuries have been reported so far. No information has been released about the attacker yet.
This is the second incident of stabbing at the Birchmount Park Collegiate Institute. Earlier on April 25, a 14-year-old boy was stabbed and injured here. A few days after the incident, two boys, aged 15 and 16, were arrested and charged with multiple charges.
