Nimmi Daula joined the Sher-E-Punjab radio team in August 2010, bringing with her a deep knowledge of music and an original sense of creativity. As a reporter, Nimmi delivers hourly newscasts throughout the day, and shares her opinions in a feature called the Radio Column. Nimmi is also the imaginative force behind ad production at the station.
As host of the uplifting weekend show Desi Gaane Desi Galle, Nimmi combines informed conversation, insightful thoughts, clever baatts (riddles) and new music with her sharp sense of humour. She enjoys sharing snippets of her family life, especially about Kamaljit, the love of her life, and her two sons. Her down-to-earth nature is most appreciated by her listeners.
Nimmi’s jovial personality and hilarious jokes are always a hit. Most days, she can be found at the station making her co-workers laugh or singing at the top of her lungs. She is a huge fan of Indian films and music, except for the tense and tearful ones. Strangely though, she always listens to ghazals, no matter how sad. She is an aspiring comedian, singer and actress, and is hoping to achieve her dreams in a future lifetime. Dharmendra was, and continues to be, her hero.
Nimmi was born in Kapurthala and raised in Pathankot where she attended Army School. She went on to complete a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, as well as a Master of Horticulture from Punjab Agriculture University in Ludhiana. She calls herself a “plant doctor,” so no one really knows what she is doing in the media industry.
