When Harjit Singh moved to Canada in 1998, he quickly became aware of the issues that faced the South Asian community and noticed a lack of coverage of these issues in the media. As a result, he was inspired to pursue a career in radio broadcasting. Harjit Singh has been hosting his high-energy radio show Lok Sath on Sher-E-Punjab since September 2009.
Born in Makhsudra (District Ludhiana in the Punjab), Harjit Singh studied at Guru Nanak Engineering College in Ludhiana where he completed his Engineering degree. After graduation, he worked to build roads in Calcutta and hydro electric power stations in West Bengal. He then moved to Muscat, Oman where he spent eight years working for various construction companies. He now calls Surrey, British Columbia home.
Harjit Singh is an enthusiastic individual who loves to socialize. Although he has a passion for broadcast, he says it is necessary to strike a balance between work and leisure. In his spare time, you can find Harjit Singh sipping Caramel Macchiatos at Starbucks or cruising around town on his motorcycle. He is also a huge fan of Kabaddi. On the weekends, Harjit Singh likes to travel to Vancouver Island and the Okanagan Valley with his wife and two children.
